Announcements, reminders, and church life bulletin board

Two years ago Harry Slusser presented the Presbyterian Man of the Year citation to Harrison Clark (seen in this photo). On June 15, 2008, Harry received the same recognition.

Fair Trade Coffee Sales

The  Mission & Benevolence Committee committee is hoping to sell out its existing inventory of coffee, tea and chocolates. We will be placing our next order, and offering these Fair Trade products quarterly, the first Sundays of June, September, December (in time for Christmas!), and March.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and Fair Trade

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) co-sponsors the Presbyterian Coffee Project with Equal Exchange, an employee-owned certified fair trade company which purchases 100% of its products according to fair trade standards.

Equal Exchange was founded in 1986 to create a new approach to trade, one that includes informed consumers, honest and fair trade relationships and cooperative principles. Equal Exchange accomplishes these goals by offering consumers fairly traded gourmet products directly from 28 democratically run farmer cooperatives located in 14 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Don't miss our "Who Is This?" page, celebrating our 65th year of ministry in 2008. Can you name all the people--beloved church members past and present--shown in the photos? We'll continue to accept photo submissions of church members past and present for possible inclusion on the list throughout this year, leading up to the anniversary homecoming on November 9.

Great news for all those who shop at Food Lion and wish to support CBPC at no extra charge! Once your MVP card is registered with Lion Shop & Share to benefit CBPC, all your Food Lion purchases will automatically continue to support our church, quarter after quarter and year after year. If you have not yet registered your MVP card to support Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church, click on the link below and sign up! It costs you nothing, and the church can receive as much as $350 per quarter.

When searching on line for something, most of us use a search engine such as Google or Yahoo. If you will use www.GoodSearch.com, you will be earning CBPC one penny for each individual search you make.

It's almost as easy as any other search engine, just with one extra step:

1. Write "Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church" in the space that asks for your chosen charity

2. Click "verify"

3. Then proceed as you normally would, typing your search information into the space that asks for it. When you click on that search, another penny is added to the kitty. The more of us who do this every time we would normally use a search engine, the more money the good people of Goodsearch will donate to CBPC.

Give it a try!

Our insurance policies have been updated in recent weeks, and some changes will now be necessary. We will need to have proof of insurance for all drivers for church events (who will be transporting others). This is a specific form which is easily obtainable from your insurance provider and can be faxed, by them, directly to the church office: 910-458-5418. We have also been asked to keep on file the driver’s license numbers of all drivers for church events. Pat will be compiling this data and it will be kept secure in the main office. So if you are one of those wonderful people volunteering to transport church members to various events, or to any particular event, please help us by delivering this information to the office. Thank you for helping to protect the church.

Speaking of Drivers…

The Outreach & Evangelism Committee is seeking volunteers who would be willing to have their name in a pool of drivers who would be willing to bring church members who need a ride to church, for Sunday mornings and/or for special events (fellowship dinners, etc.). Please contact the church office if you would be interested in having your name in one or both pools. We will be extremely judicious in our requests, with great respect for your safety, security, and convenience.

About Our Photos

The pictures presented here are meant to give an idea of some of the programs going on at CBPC, but more importantly, some of the people who make up our church. Most photos rotate hourly. I will instantaneously comply with any request from anyone that their picture be removed. You have a right to as much privacy as you wish. K.G.
