The Hunger Site

Visit www.thehungersite.com and, with just another click of a mouse, you can feed a hungry person today at no cost to you. It won't solve the problems that cause hunger, but it's a way you can help feed someone, every day--and the more people who take that simple step, the more lives can be saved until we do solve those problems. From there, there are links to several other important sites operating the same way.

You can send a message, via e-mail, to a patient at New Hanover, Pender or Cape Fear Hospitals. Click on www.nhhn.org and follow the simple instructions!

Here's a handy link if you are online and looking for a Bible verse or passage: http://bible.oremus.org/.

www.GoodSearch.com

When searching on line for something, most of us use a search engine such as Google or Yahoo. If you will use www.GoodSearch.com, you will be earning CBPC one penny for each individual search you make.

It's almost as easy as any other search engine, just with one extra step:

1. Write "Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church" in the space that asks for your chosen charity

2. Click "verify"

3. Then proceed as you normally would, typing your search information into the space that asks for it. When you click on that search, another penny is added to the kitty. The more of us who do this every time we would normally use a search engine, the more money the good people of Goodsearch will donate to CBPC.

Give it a try!

Looking for something online to reinvigorate your faith? Visit www.spiritualbookclub.com for a refreshing browse. It's operated by the Rev. Susan Baller-Shepard, a PC(USA) minister from Illinois who recently spoke at the World Spirit Forum in Switzerland.

The site http://www.explorefaith.org/ is visited regularly by at least one of our church members, who mentioned it to me. It provides a Christian perspective on spirituality as well as FAQ's, etc.

I've also found a nice collection of short, intelligent inspirational readings at http://www.pcmorristown.org/refl.html, on the website of Morristown Presbyterian Church in New Jersey.

Interesting tidbits on intersections between Christianity and art, popular culture, etc. are compiled at http://www.thunderstruck.org/. See especially the quotes on the right side of the page as you scroll down--nice to see so many people in art and literature affirming their belief.

Keith and Vivian's friend Jim Stipe travels all over the world for two reasons: one, to work with local agencies to help save and improve human lives (he and his wife recently returned from two years in Pakistan--see http://www.jimstipe.com/asia/jimandchristina.htm), and two, to take amazing photographs. See his work at www.jimstipe.com and perhaps support his mission by buying one or two pics.

Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church is one of 189 churches in the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina (www.presbycc.org), which is headquartered in Elizabethtown, NC.

We are one of the approximately 11,500 churches of the 2.5 million-member Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which is headquartered in Louisville, KY (www.pcusa.org).

Broadband users, check out the meditative video at www.newdaymovie.com. It was shown at the beginning of the October 2006 Presbytery meeting. At the end the address is given for www.NCWorship.com.

THE DA VINCI CODE - Here's a web site that closely examines the movie and book. The site presents assumptions, facts, half-truths, etc. As well, it provides answers and clear understanding. So, if you want a web site that is...
1.  Easy to use,
2.  Easy to understand,
3.  Current, and
4.  Comes from a Presbyterian point of view (Princeton theological Seminary), this is it: www.thetruthaboutdavinci.com
