Reception Team Responsibilities

As A Reception Team Member

Fellowship Receptions

An important responsibility of a reception team member is to host the fellowship receptions held after the 11:00 A.M. church service. Your involvement and participation in this church activity is so important. These receptions allow church members to connect with each other and it is also gives us the opportunity to welcome and meet visitors and guests. You should anticipate that approximately 50 to 75 people will stop by the fellowship hall for something to drink and eat before they leave.

  1. Set the serving table in the center of the fellowship hall. You may use your own table cloth and center piece. You will also find table covering in the lower kitchen cabinets. There is also an artificial flower arrangement in the kitchen window that can be placed on the reception table. This helps make the room inviting and encourages people to stay.
  1. Juice should be served either from the punch bowl or poured into cups at the table from a pitcher. Three (3) gallons usually covers the beverage need. Cups and small napkins can be found in the hospitality cupboard. Several extra gallons of apple juice will always be stored in the hospitality cupboard should you need them.
  1. A simple snack is also needed. As a suggestion - cookies, crackers and cheese, gold fish. Do not to serve nuts or foods that contain nuts since some children have serve allergies to them.
  1. Plan to stay for the entire reception. Do not begin to clear the table or clean up until the last person has left. We do not want to hurry anyone from the fellowship hall.
  1. Clean Up. Please take a minute to pick up any cups, plates or napkins left around the fellowship hall. The smaller trash cans may need to be emptied into the kitchen garbage can. Push chairs back under the tables. If you used a plastic table cover, wipe them off and be sure to let them dry before they are refolded and placed back in the cupboard.
  1. If you wish to be reimbursed for your purchase, staple your receipt to a yellow reimbursement form which are located on the table outside the church office. Place both in the Hospitality and Fellowship mail boy for my signature. Our disbursing treasurer will mail you a check.

Special Receptions

Occasionally, your reception team will cover a month where a larger reception is needed such as during Christmas holidays, a baptism or celebration of new church members. The Hospitality Committee will let the team captain know when this is necessary. If you need help from members on other teams, let me know.

If there are questions or suggestions, give me a call. And as always, thanks for your help
