Steps Toward Membership
1. Attend worship and other events (education, fellowship, mission, etc. etc.) regularly. Is this the church for you? Don’t be afraid to shop around and ask questions!
2. Speak with the pastor about joining, by attending one of the periodically announced “Prospective New Member” Events, or by scheduling an individual meeting time with the pastor.
3. One of the things you’ll do when you meet with the pastor is fill out a New Member/Prospective Member information form. It gives us your contact and family information, and gives you a chance to tell us what your interests and gifts are, and how you might like to use them in our church.
4. If you are a member of another church and wish to transfer your membership to CBPC, you may contact the other church and ask them to send a letter of transfer to Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church. If this is uncomfortable for you, the pastor can make the contact if you provide the name and location of the church.
5. Meet with the session (our church’s governing body) for the “examination.” This is an old-fashioned term and simply means that the session is introduced to you and vice versa and, being good Presbyterians, we vote! When the session votes to receive you to the active membership roll, you have officially joined the church!
6. In the near future, you and others who have joined around the same time will be formally welcomed in Sunday morning worship at whichever service (8:30 or 11:00) you choose.
