Criteria for Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church Scholarships

1. Recipients must be on the active or baptized roll of Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church.

2. Application is open to students working toward a college degree or post-secondary degree.

3. Recipients must attend church regularly and demonstrate Christian dedication by being meaningfully involved in youth fellowship, Sunday School, committee work, or some other commitment to long-term, active participation in church life and Christian learning.

4. Applications must include:

a. form completed in full (see below)

b. a copy of the applicant’s high school or college transcript, which must reflect a B average or better in high school, or a C average or better in college.

c. personal references from:

   a teacher or other knowledgeable member of school faculty*

   an adult church member

   any other individual, excluding church staff and immediate family

5. The application process will be annual. Renewal will be contingent upon the maintenance of a grade point average of C or better. For those seeking to renew their application who have continued their studies without interruption, only the letters of recommendations from one faculty and one church member are required. (The recipient must submit an application for renewal.)

6. Applications must be submitted to the committee by the last Friday in April to be considered.

7. The scholarship committee must interview all first-time applicants prior to selection.

8. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship committee’s decision by letter.

9. Recipients of scholarships must provide the church with a copy of an acceptance letter, along with the name, address, and any other school contact information.

*In case of students who have been home schooled, the applicant must present a letter of recommendation in regard to academic standing from a knowledgeable authority other than a parent or guardian.
